Committees

EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE:
This Committee ensures that the board fulfills its legal, ethical, and functional responsibilities through adequate governance policy, recruitment strategies, training, monitoring of board activities, and evaluation of board members’ performance. All the while, the Executive Committee ensures CHOO|COPO’s human resources policies are kept up to date and that all processes are carried out in a professional manner. The Executive Committee also assists with succession planning, job descriptions, leadership development and the performance evaluation of the Executive Director.

MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE:
The Membership Committee assists CHOO|COPO in determining and planning which member training and development programs are needed and should be pursued either alone or in collaboration with member groups or external partners. The Committee also reviews and assists with membership campaigns and the active recruitment of member groups. The Membership Committee will now assume the functions of the Nominating Committee.

COMMUNICATIONS AND OUTREACH COMMITTEE:
The Communications and Outreach Committee supports CHOO|COPO staff in the development and delivery of events including, but not limited to, Colonel By Day, Heritage Day and the Gathering of the Council. Working sub-committees may be established to support the individual events. The Committee also oversees the development and adherence to the marketing, IT, communications plans and policies to ensure the fluid exchange of knowledge with and between member groups.

FINANCE AND AUDIT COMMITTEE:
The Finance and Audit Committee provides the Board with advice, information and tools to make financial decisions. The Committee is tasked with making recommendations to the Board concerning the annual budget, financial statements, long-term financial planning, external audit, internal controls and risk management.

*STRATEGIC PLANNING COMMITTEE:
The Strategic Planning Committee assists CHOO|COPO in achieving its vision by developing and guiding the implementation of a dynamic and responsive strategy. Overall, the Committee produces, updates and facilitates the dissemination of a strategic plan and provides a framework for all major directions and decisions of CHOO|COPO.

NOMINATING COMMITTEE:
The Nominating Committee provides the Board with advice, information and tools to add new board members to the board of directors.
