|The Ottawa Cultural Alliance (OCA) is a collaboration between six organizations working to help advance Ottawa’s cultural sector. As a result of OCA’s advocacy, and stemming from A Renewed Action Plan for Arts, Heritage and Culture in Ottawa (2013-2018), Ottawa City Council has approved funding to complete an independent, community-driven, community-wide Arms-Length Cultural Development Feasibility Study (“the study”).
About the study
Over the next year (Fall 2017- Fall 2018), the study will be implemented by an independent consultant, and will include:
Research on leading practices from other communities.
Consultations within the Ottawa cultural community, with community leaders and City culture and other staff.
Recommendations on potential models and/or solutions towards collectively fostering a thriving cultural sector whose potential, and whose contribution to the creative economy and livability of our city can be fully realized.
If you identify as a member of, or stakeholder in our city’s cultural community or a related sector, the study provides a number of opportunities for you to help realize our collective potential.
Your voice counts – get involved
The study needs your ideas on how to strengthen and advance our cultural sector. Here are the ways to get involved:
Advisory Committee: Hold a leadership position and help guide the development of the study. Members will help to ensure community input and engagement throughout the Study process, provide input to the study draft recommendations prior to public release and act as a sounding board on other activities that would strengthen the consultation process. Get details and the application form at ottawaculture.ca.
Participate in the study: Get on the study consultation list at ottawaculture.ca, so that we can keep you informed about upcoming consultations where your voice can be heard.
