Interest in local history required, as well as writing skills, and the ability to research files and/or interview people for stories, plus familiarity with desktop publishing. The work would involve publicity using both print and social media outlets and suggesting ways of increasing membership. The Society offers a regular Speaker’s program, publishes books from time to time, offers Social and Family History Archives, a digital Photo Archives, and takes part in events such as public exhibits or presentations. The BYTOWN MUSEUM Youth Council in Ottawa is currently looking for volunteers between the ages of 16 – 25 who are interested in learning about Ottawa’s history and sharing it through for youth, by youth projects.The Youth Council is made up of about 10 – 15 individuals who are between the ages of 16 – 25 years old. As a Youth Council member, you will participate in various activities and events that range from blog writing, and video making to planning for heritage events and working on other special projects. High School students are welcome – volunteer hours at the Mill can be put toward your compulsory community hours for graduation.
