A Barnyard Halloween

It’s a Barnyard Halloween at the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum! You are invited to enjoy special activities just right for the occasion. Make some ghoulish treats, create a creepy craft, learn all about bats, and visit a spooky barn. Costumed visitors young and old alike can join the costume parade. Children will also be able to decorate a pumpkin to bring home.

Activities

PUMPKIN DECORATING (ONGOING)

Children can search the museum’s pumpkin patch for the perfect pumpkin. Then, they are invited to head inside to decorate their pumpkin with a variety of craft materials (ex: pipe cleaners, yarn, stickers, etc.) to bring home. Visitors can also learn about different varieties of pumpkins and the pumpkin’s life cycle.
$1/pumpkin (free for members) and 1 pumpkin/person (while supplies last).

CANDY LAND (ONGOING)

Test your knowledge of some classic confections at this sweet station. Guess how many candies are in the jar and discover where common ingredients come from.

CANDY MAKING DEMONSTRATION

Come and indulge your sweet tooth during this demonstration. Visitors will see how gumdrops and old fashion butter mints are made and have the chance to sample the end results!

SCIENCE SPOOK-TACULAR (ONGOING)

Welcome to a Science Spook-tacular where you will be astounded as the museum’s resident Mad Scientists reveal to you alien monster eggs, goblin goo, volcanic explosions, and candy experiments!

WITCH’S LAIR – CRAFT (ONGOING)

Join the museum’s witch in her den and create a creepy craft to bring home!

PUMPKIN PIE ICE CREAM (10 A.M. AND 2:30 P.M.)

Enjoy a sample of this seasonal twist on a classic treat. Humans and monsters alike can help make ice cream using an old-fashion hand-crank machine!

COSTUME PARADE (11 A.M. AND 1:30 P.M.)

Costumed visitors are invited to take part in the costume parade and show off their cute, spooky, or original costumes to everyone in attendance. Treats await all the participants at the end of the parade.

FUN HOUSE LAB (ONGOING)

Things are not as they appear in this Fun House Lab! Discover what’s in the soil and challenge yourself to identify animals by their skeletons alone.

GRAVEYARD PUDDING (ONGOING)

Our young visitors are invited to help put together this fun Halloween treat while decorating it with candies to look like a graveyard.

DANCE PARTY (ONGOING)

DJ Rico will be livening things up during the Halloween Dance Party! Show off your dance moves to some classic Halloween music and discover a menu of different beverages any creature would enjoy!

THE DEN (ONGOING)

Whether you are looking for a place to take a break or to break out a game, The Den is the place for you!

SPOOKY BARN (10 A.M. TO 3 P.M.)

Enter the spooky barn if you dare! Recommended for visitors 13 years of age and older.
